CEO Interview: The game server CEO raises the bar for Minecraft and other community play experiences

Of course, it is necessary to ensure that your data on the server is safe, because you not only give these companies abundant personal and financial information, but also your server data. Sadly, I’ve seen companies that just shut down with gamers losing all their data and losing their game worlds. For those who have worked with their friends or family for a long time building their world together and then suddenly lost everything, this is very upsetting.

MK: On that note, how about customer service. I understand that you feel that the game server hosting industry in general is lacking in customer service standards. Can you explain that a little bit?

deputy: Yes, before starting this company I already had my own Minecraft server hosted by a company and had many issues with customer service. Therefore, I personally understand the consumer mentality and historical service shortcomings. Now as the owner and operator of my own game server company, we go above and beyond to satisfy our users. This includes bundling features for which other game server hosting providers charge an additional fee. Instead, we offer packages that bring everything together to make things easier and more cost-effective. We have 24/7 support, and our customers get a response to their support tickets in an average of 15 minutes – day or night, no matter what. Our support team never tells the customer “we don’t know” about an issue…we either escalate it, look it up or otherwise figure it out as quickly as possible so that we don’t leave any issue unresolved for too long.

Of course, keeping data safe and secure is extremely important, so back up all our servers every day. So, if you install a plug-in or mod, corrupt the configuration file, or if someone accidentally or maliciously deletes part or all of the world, the server owner can restore up to seven days of backups and save a lot of hardship and worry. We are also the only server company that caches files from all canceled servers for about 2 years. So, a customer who used to have a server with us can come back entirely after a couple of years, and literally pick up where they left off, which can be nostalgic and exciting – especially if the old group of friends is back together and wants to restart their server.

In games, and especially in relation to Minecraft, the community aspect is huge. In truth, Minecraft – and certainly Max’s server hosting company – wouldn’t be where it is today without the shared aspect of the experience.
